Powell’s

I desperately need more books. I have one book that I’m reading right now, and it’s the last of my unread books. All I want to do is go to Powell’s book store in Portland and get more books.

It’s my favorite place in the entire universe, and I have a mile long list of books I want to buy at the moment. So I want to go and sit on the floor, and take up space in the isles and be in peoples way with my basket full, and piles of books.

Because I am that girl. I am the girl who will take up way too much space and slide out of the way when she finally realizes someone’s leaning over her to try and get a book. I am the girl that will stand and wait patiently for ten or twenty minutes for someone to move so I can get to the books behind them. I will say excuse me, and please and thank you. Because I really am grateful to get to the books behind you.

I am the girl who loses herself in the bookstore but never gets lost. The girl who never looks at her map of Powell’s but gets a new one every time she goes. I’m the one who uses the computer only when desperate, until then I will look at every single cover until i find the book I want. I am excited by each and every new book I find and in love with every new book I choose to read. 

Yes, I am that girl, who loses herself in the books, and never realizes whats going on around her. The book is far more important. Imagines herself in the wizzarding world of Harry Potter, and begs not to be chosen as a tribute in The Hunger games, who trusts her parents not to send her off to be an Unwind (even though she’s to old now to be unwound). I am not in reality and one other world of someone’s imagination (combined with my own). I am in every other world, and rarely in reality.

Because reality is never really good enough for me, unless I’m in a bookstore.
